Documentation

Document Attestation &
Education Recognition

UAE government authorities do not accept foreign documents without verification. Getting attestation wrong is one of the most common reasons residency applications are rejected. Aurum conducts a pre-application document review before any submission to catch problems before they cause delays.

01

Country of Issue Authentication

HRD attestation (India), Apostille (UK and Hague Convention countries), or MOFA authentication (Pakistan). Requirements vary by country and document type.

02

UAE Embassy Attestation

After authentication in the country of issue, most documents require attestation by the UAE Embassy or Consulate in that country confirming the preceding authentication.

03

UAE MOFA Attestation

UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation — the final stage before documents are accepted for UAE government procedures including residency applications.

04

MOE Equivalency / Recognition

Ministry of Education equivalency or recognition is additionally required for foreign educational qualifications used in Golden Visa and Green Residency applications. Separate from attestation.

  • Embassy and consular attestation — all markets
  • UAE MOFA attestation
  • MOE equivalency and recognition — educational qualifications
  • KHDA attestation where applicable
  • Certified translation — all major languages
  • Pre-application document review — personal, educational, employment, property, corporate, and family documents

Common Questions

Frequently Asked
Questions

Yes. Several routes do not require a UAE company — including the Golden Visa property and financial investor routes, Green Residency for skilled employees, Digital Nomad residency, and Retirement residency. See our residency services page or contact Aurum to confirm which route applies to your situation.
Yes. Foreign documents typically require multi-stage attestation — authentication in the country of issue, UAE Embassy attestation, and UAE MOFA attestation — before UAE immigration will accept them. For educational qualifications, MOE equivalency or recognition is additionally required for many residency categories. The exact process depends on the document type and country of issue. Aurum manages this for clients from all major markets.
Eligible dependants — including spouse, children, and in some cases parents — can be included once you hold UAE residency. The ability to sponsor dependants depends on your residency category and, in some cases, your salary or accommodation. Aurum advises on this during your consultation and coordinates dependent applications as part of the same engagement.
In many cases, yes. The amount paid towards the property at the time of application must meet the AED 2 million qualifying threshold. Aurum reviews your property documentation — title deed, mortgage statement, and payment records — before submission to confirm whether the application is viable and what supporting documents are required.
The Golden Visa is 10 years (5 years for the entrepreneur category) and has higher qualifying thresholds in most categories — AED 2 million for property and financial investors, AED 30,000 per month for employed professionals. The Green Residency is 5 years, with a lower income threshold of AED 15,000 per month for employees and AED 360,000 over two years for freelancers. Both are self-sponsored and not tied to any single employer for renewal.
Processing times vary by residency category, documentation completeness, and authority workload at the time of submission. A well-prepared application with all documents correctly attested moves through the process with fewer delays. Where attestation is required, that stage typically adds several weeks before submission. Aurum will give you a realistic timeline at the time of your consultation based on your specific category and document readiness.
An eligibility consultation with Aurum is the right first step. Most clients come to us with a situation — a business they are setting up, a property they have purchased, or a job offer they have accepted — rather than a specific visa in mind. We assess your circumstances, confirm which categories are available to you, and recommend the most appropriate route. Contact us to get started.
